Terrorists always begin by killing a hostage to properly terrify, but I have never held with shock tactics myself, because we are all reasoning beings who can be relied on to properly, rationally decide what is good for ourselves.
On second thoughts, seeing the consistent penchant for ignoring the obvious and going for the difficult that is the hallmark of human behaviour, I suppose that a little demonstration of my intentions is in order.

Let us look at numbers, though, shall we?
So, what is a number?
A number is nothing you can touch, see or hold and it is just a representation of objects that are being used in some activity.
This is a bit like when people say, "I need money for airtime"; of course we all KNOW what the person means, and being fundamentally practical we all realise that it is impossible for such a thing as "airtime" to physically exist, but that the person just wants money so that he can...you get the drift.

When, in the beginning, they started using numbers, they never worried about things like how to find the root of certain numbers, or about what the log of a number was, or about how to find the complex conjugate;

A number is used only when representing something, an object or collection of objects upon which SOMETHING is being done. The simplest thing that can be done on any object is that they are shared or accumulated. Since some things are better done mentally than with all the heavy lifting and pushing that would be necessary when dealing, with, say buffalo meat for Cro and Og, a lazy man will do things in his head then tell the contentious two just how much of the buffalo each should have.
It does not mean that anyone can count numbers, like now where one actually has something like
(-2) - (-6) = +4
That is not only impossible, it is irrational. Many kids with a practical outlook on life find it difficult to advance in mathematics today because they can not deal with things like this...and with justification too!
How is it possible to have something that is less than nothing, then subtract something else that is less than nothing and then end up with something that is a whole lot more than nothing?
